New Zealand Airports
New Zealand has a comprehensive network of international and domestic airports. While Auckland Airport serves the largest number of international arrivals and departures, airports in Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Palmerston North and Queenstown also receive flights from other countries. Domestic airports make every part of the country accessible, from Kaitaia to Stewart Island.

Auckland Airport
Auckland International Airport is located about 20 kilometres south of the city centre in the suburb of Mangere. It is New Zealand’s largest and busiest airport. There is one terminal building for international flights and another for domestic flights.

Transport options
Inter-terminal bus service
A free bus runs between the international and domestic terminals from 6am to 10.30pm daily. The bus departs from directly in front of the terminals and stops at both the Air New Zealand and Qantas domestic terminals. There is also a walkway between the international and domestic terminals. The walk takes approximately 10 minutes.

Bus
$15 adult one way - about one hour.
The Airbus airport-to-city service departs every 20 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes during the evening. To the city: first bus 6.20am (4.40am, 1 November to 30 April)

The adult fare on the Airbus is $15 one way or $22 return. The child fare (4-14 years) is $6 one way or $12 return. The fare for Backpacker and Student Card holders is $13 one way or $20 return. If you are travelling with surfboards, snowboards or bikes (boxed only allowed) you will be charged an additional $6.

Reservations are not required for the Airbus. Tickets are available from the driver. Visit www.airbus.co.nz for more information.

Shuttle
Approximately $26 for one person, $32 for two - about 60 minutes
A shuttle is a cost effective way to travel into the city. Discounts apply if two or more people are travelling together - approximately $6 per additional person. Shuttles are normally shared with other passenger groups. The shuttle’s travelling time depends on traffic conditions and the number of drop-offs or pick-ups along the way. Allow plenty of time to reach the airport for departing flights.

Taxi
Approximately $50 to $65 - about 30 minutes.
The journey between the airport and the central city can take considerably longer during peak traffic periods and may cost up to $80 at these times. If you’re travelling to the airport by taxi, make sure you allow plenty of time. Taxis licensed to operate from the airport carry a value and service guarantee.

Car rental
Major rental car companies operate from both terminal buildings. Bookings are strongly recommended.
