AUCKLAND AIRPORT
Auckland Airport is the largest and busiest airport in New Zealand with over 13 million passengers a year. The airport is in Mangere, a western suburb of Manukau City, and is 21 km south of Auckland City centre. It is the central hub for Air New Zealand. Auckland Airport is one of New Zealand’s most important infrastructure assets, providing thousands of jobs for the region, and is the country’s second largest cargo 'port' by value, contributing around $14 billion to the economy, and catering for over four million visitors each year, resulting in a 70% share of New Zealand's international travellers. It has a capacity of about 45 flight movements per hour, using a single runway which is fully Cat IIIb capable (at a reduced rate of movements). A close by taxiway was upgraded for use as a runway when the main runway requires maintenance or for use during emergencies, but it does not have sufficient separation distance to operate simultaneously with the main runway. In November 2007 work began on a new northern runway, to be built in several stages and to be used mainly by smaller airplanes, freeing up capacity on the main runway.

Shuttle
Approximately $26 for one person, $32 for two - about 60 minutes
A shuttle is a cost effective way to travel into the city. Discounts apply if two or more people are travelling together - approximately $6 per additional person. Shuttles are normally shared with other passenger groups. The shuttle’s travelling time depends on traffic conditions and the number of drop-offs or pick-ups along the way. Allow plenty of time to reach the airport for departing flights.

Taxi
Approximately $50 to $65 - about 30 minutes.
The journey between the airport and the central city can take considerably longer during peak traffic periods and may cost up to $80 at these times. If you’re travelling to the airport by taxi, make sure you allow plenty of time. Taxis licensed to operate from the airport carry a value and service guarantee.
